About Mervyn Foster
Mervyn started his working and business career in the Royal Corps of Signals as a Senior Communications Manager, serving a total of 24 years of which 13 with Special Forces and 3 in Hong Kong with the Queens Gurkha Signals. He continued his experience in the telecommunications world when he joined Cambridgeshire Constabulary as its Head of Communications and finally into consultancy and project management as a Senior Consultant with a leading IT/Communications Consultancy Company, working with a wide range of clients including the Police, Fire and Ambulance services as well as the Ministry of Defence. An experienced people manager, he has been responsible for developing and delivering solutions to businesses, organisational and cultural change programmes and new business Mentoring. He has worked throughout the world.
Following almost 35 years as a successful business manager, Mervyn discovered through personal experience, the power of alternative therapy when he had to learn a few techniques of Shiatsu whilst training, teaching and studying the Japanese Martial Art of Aikido, of which he is a Black Belt and teacher. He took this experience further and studied with the British School of Shiatsu-Do in. He left the corporate work in 2001 and now runs a very successful On-Site Stress Management business – ‘Soothing Hands Ltd – The Human Touch’ – he is a qualified Practitioner of On-Site Chair Shiatsu Massage, a Member of the TouchPro© Institute of Chair Massage and the Shiatsu Society and uses his skill by visiting companies, businesses and organisations De-Stressing staff in the workplace.
Some of his clients have and do include Bedfordshire Police, Papworth Hospital NHS Trust, Cambridge & Peterborough Mental Health Trust, Coversure Insurance Services, GSP [Global Software Publications] Ltd, Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Ford Motor Company, Mason Communications Ltd, Episys Ltd (Royston) and Neways International [UK] Ltd to name just a few. He has also supported a number of companies and organisations on stands at Exhibitions and conferences at the NEC, Olympia plus other venues.
Mervyn is also a successful Independent Distributor of Complementary Health and Personal Care Products, showing people the benefits of supplementing their bodies needs of essential Vitamins and Minerals as well as increasing the awareness of insidious toxic nature of many substances commonly used in consumer products we have and use in our homes. Consequently the products he can recommend combine the best in modern biochemistry and traditional herbology – creating products that are safe for you and your children.
